Forget the Politics

I wonder what politics they are referring to? Scene politics or polititricks-politics?

Respects to Noise Factory  - not just respect, but respects plural

Sledge Records - parent company of Stomp Records

Good tune anyway, with a riff that stirs vague pirate radio memories

If the stance is anti-politics, reminds me of these "fuck the government, any and all government" sentiments here

"Forget the politics" makes me think of the rap sample from Criminal Minds 'Baptised By Dub' - "can't beat the system / go with the flow". Stop resisting, stop engaging with politics when you can't change anything, zone out, go with the flow. Not so much anti-politics as apolitical. Which I imagine was an all too tempting option after over a decade of seemingly endless Tory rule in the 80s and early 90s.

It's Got Soul is a pretty good choon as well, particularly the start - paranoid hysteria-approaching-panic vibes.

i love that sample and always read that interpretation into it, although it is probably just intended as can't beat the sound system, as in the original record it's sampled from. but yeah irresistible to read it that way, as a dropping out / youth in exile / rave as antipolitics thing
