ruff! ruff! ruff ruff!

my favorite bit out of a ridiculous number of contender constituents  - the dog barking "ruff! ruff!".

like it's applauding the track. this canine can recognize a ruff tune

then again, there's that reverby piano refrain, the way it drifts into a haze deeper into the track

this is a propah remix - it retains everything that's good, enhances and clarifies and brightens - like a redreaming of the track

love the way the bassline sidles and bulges

and the "dancing we dancing we losing control"

but what's the sampled rapper saying?

It's Tim Dogg:

Chopped
Chopped, say stopped,
hah think stopped
Stop listen to the hip-hop

That VIP mix of the slammer you posted is a bit weird. Is it newly made for the boxset or from back in the day?

Also the irony of Ruff Ruff references followed by Tim Dogg is not lost on me!

how funny, I wonder if the use of Tim Dogg then led them to the "ruff! ruff!" idea - a dialogue of dog(g)s!

Well, I guess "VIP Version Unreleased" would imply that it was made back then and perhaps played out as a dub, but never actually released. If it was a new remix done for the box set, then you wouldn't say "Unreleased" - because it's being released soon after being made.

It's almost indistinguishable from the original, as far as I can tell - just much clearer sounding. (More like a remastering than a remix).

You know your post about Claire Dederer's Monsters is inaccessible? Mind, I think you know what I would say about it.

it's not about the book, it's a "reissue" of a piece of mine that I framed in a particular way and then had second thoughts

mystery to be resolved in due course (probably)
